I live in uk, our selling limit is £1,000.00 a year on Ebay before we have to give our details for tax purposes. Can somebody tell me when this applies? Is it January to January or April to April. I dont have a business but do sell off some of my private collection. Correct advice would be very much appreciated.

The £1000 a year is a trading allowance for business sellers, you are registered as a private seller so this does not apply to you.

Private sellers sales are reported to HMRC when they reach either 30 sales or €2000 (approx £1700) even then if you are selling your own items you are unlikely to have any tax to pay.
