I bought a pair of safety boots last November, didn't start using them till January this year, within two weeks the soles started falling apart, I contacted the seller, they said that after 30 days you can't get a refund !.

I contacted the manufactures for there thoughts ( as I have had several pairs of Uvex safety boots and find them well made and long lasting, they asked me to send a photo of the inside of the tongue (manufactures label), two days later I got their response... do not use these boots they are over 20 years old and are not fit for purpose !!!

What rights do I have ?

are sellers allowed to sell out of date safety equipment without stating so

eBay always stick to their 30 day deadline for claims so nothing you can do there. Payment providers allow 120 days so if you're still within that timeframe contact your provider direct and ask about a refund or chargeback.

eBay rely on buyers reporting sellers within 30 days. Or if a problem is obvious on a listing you can report a listing.

You can try reporting a seller generally using the Report Seller link on here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/reporting-item-issue-seller?id=4022

But if it was a one-off they are unlikely to do anything about it.

If you bought these boots from a UK business seller, and they were sold as 'brand new' then it might be worth reporting them to Trading Standards - you now do so online via Citizens Advice.

If it was a private seller, or you bought from an overseas company, then it is difficult to offer any useful advice.
