Buyer said the address is wrong

I sold a memory card on the 28th January and posted it on the 29th but the buyer hasn't received it yet and has informed me that the address that ebay provided to me was wrong (i got it from the invoice) It was not a simple delivery label as the item qualified for custom delivery and purely for convenience i put stamps on it and popped it in the postbox on my street.

When the buyer messaged me this morning i double checked the address and although most of the address is correct, the postcode is different to the buyers registered address.

Any advice on how to proceed with this ?

You should have got the buyer's address from the 'order details' as shown on the sold item in your orders.

The address on the invoice is not necessarily the address the buyer used at checkout so this is your error as you have posted to an incorrect address.

Personally, I would apologise, refund the buyer, and hope that the item was returned to me at some point.

Thank you both, i also have the email from ebay with my buyers details, name, address and postcode (it's the postcode part that is wrong) and the reason i looked at the invoice was because it had some strange things on it like safe place front gate etc. The postcode differs on buyers postal address and buyers registered address.

Is this still my error?

You don't get the address from the email or the invoice.

Did you send the item to the address shown in order details for the sold item in your orders when you are logged into Ebay?

Yes @jckl1957 i did use the address from my orders page and i've just checked it again to make sure i wasn't imagining it and the address given is the 1 that the buyer has said is wrong.

I did apologise to them this morning as i've never had this happen before and i asked them to wait a few more days but given that the postcode is wrong then they are never going to receive it.
