thanks for the advice, I have dispatch set at 1 day because i think if buyers are looking for an item and want quick delivery they are more likely to buy from me than elsewhere. Regarding hols, my listings all ended a week before i went away, and i always ask for prompt payment when i'm going away to enable me to post in before i go, i just happened to have a buyer who had problems with her paypal which took a while to sort out.

my listings state postage will be within 1 working day of payment. On 2 occasions recently postage has been delayed.

The first instance was a buyer who had problems with paypal and was unable to make payment for a week, i was happy to wait until her problems were resolved and had good communication between ourselves regarding payment. She told me when she expected to make payment but i was going on holiday early in the morning that the payment was expected to be made. Buyer was happy to wait for postage of her item until i returned a week later. Ebay kept informing me that the item needed to be posted and that it was overdue.

Last week a bidder asked me if she bid on an item would i be willing to hold it until 14th sept as she would be away. Not a problem for me, she paid on winning and once again ebay is letting me know the item is very overdue for posting. I have another week before i can post this item,

My query is will my ebay rating for postage/late delivery be affected on my seller dashboard due to late postage of these items. I always post either on day of payment or next morning depending on what time payment is made. Do i need to contact ebay to explain why these items have not been posted on time?

thanks for any advice

carol

No point phoning Ebay. Firstly change your Dispatch to 2 - 3 days. But do post the next day when you can. That way Buyers are happy when they receive their Item earlier than expected. It also covers you in case their is a Postage Delay. Best not to list anything when you are going away . If the Buyer is going away, Mark as Dispatched but don't actually Post until the date they require. Ask the Buyer to please not mark you down for late Dispatch as part of the agreement.
