If a buyer claims an item is not as described then you have no choice but to accept a return & issue a prepaid returns label......refunding when you get it back

However much you may disagree with the buyer it is essential that you follow that procedure & remain as civil as possible at all times .......working on the assumption that good relations with the buyer will reduce the risk of negative feedback

Can’t believe a buyer has left me negative feedback? She’s basically told a pack of lies, and I’ve asked eBay to step in and they won’t? I’ve been a seller / buyer on here for 14 years. You’d think that would count for something. Basically anyone can just ruin your feedback for no good reason. Has anyone had this happen to them?

The feedback states ' rude seller'. Was there previous communication between you and the buyer which lead to disagreement? Did you refuse a refund?

Whatever the messages were, it upset your buyer, eBay will not remove the feedback as it portrays the buyers overall experience with you as a seller.

The only way to come back from this, is to somehow make amends with the situation, try talking to the buyer, was the item not as described, is this what they are saying? Then a full refund would surely make amends, but do this correctly via a case being opened and refunded through that case so your seller fees are refunded, and no defect awarded.

Once the matter is resolved you can send therm a feedback revision to complete.

The number of years you have been a member means nothing I'm afraid.

Unless a feedback comment breaches ebay's policy then as far as they're concerned it is buyer opinion and won't remove it.

If a buyer is unhappy then they should open a not-as-described case which you accept, issue the return-post label and then you refund. Without any fuss or communication. You then have a happy buyer and if that were me I would give +ve feedback for good service.

You are a business seller and even if buyer had changed her mind she could return. I wonder if you made that clear [or started arguing?]

No I sent the item, the buyer put a dispute it claiming it was late and wanted proof of postage. I sent proof this morning, then s few hours later the buyer ended the dispute, obviously they’d received the coat. Then didn’t message to say they was unhappy with it, and wanted a refund, they just put bad feedback on. Never or hasn’t even asked for a refund. Also if asking someone to be patient is being Rude, then I guess it’s time to give up on here

Basically anyone can just ruin your feedback for no good reason.

EBay would say - and probably did say - that it's the buyer's opinion. It doesn't break any rules, no profanity and no mention of an eBay dispute, so eBay won't change it.

By the way, the reason one previous responder thought you were a business seller is that following the "view item" link in your feedback page now takes you to a similar item being sold by another seller. Just another of eBay's recent changes designed to benefit eBay, not it's users.

Buyer didn’t even ask for a refund or message me to say they were unhappy. I asked them to be patient for the delivery, so that I think I’d why I’m being called Rude

@19932003

Thank you for the update. This - to some degree at least - shows how pointless it is for buyers and sellers to communicate! If the buyer thought that the item was "late" then all they do [and they do not "ask you for a refund"] is to open a "not received case" in the resolution centre on the day after the last date stated by eBay for delivery. There is then 8 days for the item to arrive. If you can show - by entering the tracking in the case - that the item has been "delivered" then you win the case and if not the buyer wins and you refund. The seller in these cases is somewhat protected in that it is "delivery" that has to be shown not even "delivery to the buyer". Again it is pointless "communicating" and sending a copy of the postal receipt which is for your benefit.

All I might have done after the initial [possible] contact from the buyer is to advise using the formal eBay system.

If you have not done so you can add a reply [in very temperate and factual terms] to the feedback
