Question Re: Selling advice in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

Be very wary, You are a new seller as this is only your second sale, and you are selling a high value item which is a magnet for scammers, who will take advantage of your inexperience.

The answer to both their questions must be a big fat NO.

Collection items should not be paid by paypal, although you are not allowed to actually refuse it.. Scammers will pay by paypal, then in a few days time they will open a case for "not recieved". They will be refunded because you have no tracked postage to prove they have the item. Ebay will not accept signed reciepts or CCTV footage of them collecting. No tracking - they get a refund.

As far as the works address is concerned, if it's not the address registered with PAYPAL, you will have no cover. if they claim the item has not arrived. Paypal will say you sent it to the wrong address.

Tell the buyer you will allow collection, only if he agrees to cancel the transaction, you relist it, he buys it again, and brings cash. You can tell him it's for his own safety as he can fuly inspect the item before he takes it.

Or, you cancel and relist, he adds the works address to his paypal account, and he chooses that address when going through check out. Works addresses are fine (done it myself) as long as it's the address that paypal gives you.

If they insist on paying with paypal, which they have the right to do, then you insist on ONLY SENDING THE ITEM TO THE ADDRESS REGISTERED IN PAYPAL. This is your right - Do not be talked out of it !!! Most of all, send the item with full insurance coverage - special delivery. This will be the only proof you have that you have sent it and he recieved it.

If he's genuine, he will understand and agree. If he's a scammer he will back out once he realises you were not born yesterday. If you should end up with bad feedback because you didn't do what he wanted you can ask ebay to remvove it, as bbuyers are not allowed to demand services that are not in the listing, ie - colllection, or different address. Keep the messages as proof.

One last thing. Not all people with 0 feedback are scammers. But people with 0 feedback who buy phones are.

Good luck.

Selling advice

Hi All,

I listed my mobile phone for sale and within an hour it was purchased by an ebay member with zero feedback. They paid for the item immediately but then sent me a message asking if they can collect in person or if I could send it to a works address. All seems normal until I check the works address vs the home address and they are 450 miles apart.

What would be your advice in handling this transaction?

Should I ben concerned?

Is there any steps I can take to safeguard myself?

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
