If you genuinely didn't want the item then why did you order it? To be honest it doesn't sound like it's the seller who's being the idiot here - you messed up his listing by committing to buying the item and then told him "Actually, I don't want it. Cancel the order." The seller is quite within his rights to open an Unpaid Item Dispute against you if you refuse to pay, as you entered into a legally binding agreement to purchase the item when you placed the order, and if he does open an Unpaid Item Dispute and you refuse to pay for the item then you'll end up with an Unpaid Item Strike on your account once the seller closes the case without receiving payment. If you get two or more Unpaid Item Strikes you'll find it very difficult to buy anything on eBay, as most sellers have their accounts set up to automatically block buyers with two or more Unpaid Item Strikes on their accounts during the past twelve months.

What do I do when a seller wont cancel an order that I genuinely dont want? He is being an absolute idiot, and saying its my job to cancel it, when it is infact his.

Hi. So you bid on an item that you genuinely dont want?

Seller lists....you bid....you win...you pay and then seller posts. Thats the way Ebay works.

Unless its a Business seller a private seller does not have to cancel the order.

What the seller should do is open a non payment case against you and then if you still dont pay after 4 days close it to get their Ebay fees back and you get a strike on your account for non payment.
