Buyer hasn’t paid

Buyer has said they can’t afford to pay but please don’t report them to eBay! I obviously need to report it, but my question is, once I report the buyer, will the next highest bidder get the opportunity to buy the item instead?? I’m selling a signed shirt & giving the proceeds to a charity so I don’t want to relist all over again as I have already told the charity the amount.

You have to make ebay aware so that you can claim back your selling fee for the sale, so you have 2 choices.

Either open an unpaid item case 2 days after the auction ended and then close it in 4 days.

Or send the buyer a cancellation request choosing buyer change of mind as the reason.

Either way add them to your blocked bidder list to stop them messing you about again.

You should see to the right of the item in the sold section of My Ebay 'second chance offer' that is how you offer the item to the underbidder.

Thanks so much. Yes I need to protect myself from this buyer potentially saying I’ve not sent them the item too. So I take it I am only offer the second chance once the unpaid item reporting has been closed? They’ve no intention of paying despite the fact they only won the auction yesterday. I’ll report it unpaid as the 2 days it up. Thanks for your help.

Yes, do not relist or make a second chance offer until you have completed the unpaid item dispute.

IF I chose to cancel the order, would I then have to relist the item from the beginning?

No you will still have the 2nd chance offer option open to you.
