Item Returned, but not collected from Post Office

I returned faulty and damaged item to the seller after opening a return case, which they first wouldn’t accept, but did accept eventually. They tried to deliver the item, but it wasn’t delivered and a card was left. The item still hasn’t been collected from the post office.

I am really not sure what happens now? How long does the Post Office hold? Will I still get a refund if uncollected? Just need some advice.

I fyou opened the dispute then just carry on with it

Ebay accept Delivered or attempted delivery for a dispute

Make sure that the tracking is on the dispute

Make sure you escalate the dispute if you have not already done so.

As long as you follow the instructions in the resolution centre then you should win the dispute

As long as you opened the correct case, that is for item not as described, and you sent the item back following eBay's rules, that is, sent back fully tracked, then the seller can refuse the item, but you will still win the case for your refund, by entering that tracking number into the case, it does not have to prove delivery in this instance, as sellers could refuse delivery. You must escalate the case on day 9, if it has not been resolved beforehand.

If the item was not tracked, then enter the 16 digit number on your proof of posting, that should also suffice.

Without either number you will not win a case, and then be in the hands of the seller being honest, and refunding you.

Thank you, it was tracked and case opened as defective. Didn’t know that you can escalate the case, thought once the item was sent back there was nothing else to be done.

Thank you, there is tracking and I didn’t know you could still escalate, thought there is nothing that can be done after item returned, so I suppose 8/9days after sending item back you can escalate, not sure how long to wait.

The option to escalate the dispute should appear 8 full days after you open the dispute.
Go back to the resolution centre at the bottom of the page

Thank you for you reply, but the return was accepted and eBay sent label before the eight days, so did’t need to escalate, but wasn’t expecting the item not being collected which is why unsure of what happens now. eBay says seller to refund in 6 days after delivery, but what happens if not collected from post office.

As already said if the seller does not collect then you should still win the dispute.
If you have a return address on the item it will be returned too you.
If the seller wants it back again when they realise then they should send another label

Ebay accept Delivered or Attempted delivery for a returned item

Just make sure you do not have to escalate after the 6 days if the seller does not refund
You will have had emails to tell you what to do.
Options to take any other action only appears when you need to do it.
