Question Re: Postage in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

I think the most likely explanation in that instance would be that the seller doesn't know how to set the listing up properly so that the postage option shows that it is a Collection Only item. As a result they either list the item as free postage, thinking that because it's for collection there are no postage costs to speak of, hence the term "free postage" on their listing, or they just get stuck looking for the Collection Only option, give up looking for it and put a postage cost on the listing so that they can complete the ad and get the item listed. At the end of the day they're helping nobody as they're just misleading any potential buyers and putting themselves at risk of having a case opened against them for non-delivery if they've added a postage option but haven't posted the item due to the fact that they're expecting the buyer to come and collect it in person. If you really want the item on such a listing the best thing to do would be to use the Ask Seller A Question link to clarify what the situation is regarding postage and make your mind up as to whether to bid or not depending on what the seller tells you.

hi can any one tell me why I can look at an item on eBay and it says. Free P and P. Or X amount postage , then you discover that you have to collect the item

i have been caught out two times and buyer does take money from pay pal account then won't return money or even answer you messages.

I don't want to keep starting a resolution. Karen

Firstly if you are seeing free p&p in a general search then that is a fault with ebay's search software.

Secondly , if ever your payment in paypal shows as unclaimed then you can simply cancel the payment and the money will be returned to you.

Use common sense with big heavy items which show free p&p or a low postage cost. Read the description and double check with the seller if you are not absolutely sure.

I actually think you are getting confused somehow. You left feedback for a rug stating you were not sure if it was pick up or delivery. The listing could not have been clearer. It just said "Free collection in person" and the seller said where it had to be collected from.

Feedback is not a message board. Neutral and negative feedback ruins a seller's account.
