You are confusing two different things,

on ebay there are two types of sellers

1, private sellers - people selling their own unwanted personal possessions

2. business sellers - people who grow, make or buy items with the sole intention of selling them,

Private and Business sellers may subscribe to a shop

You are running a business so you HAVE to Upgrade to a Business Account

you do not HAVE to subscribed to a shop.

Business sellers have to pay insertion fees, they don't get 20 free listings a month like private sellers.

Once you have upgraded to a business you cannot downgrade, if you don't upgrade you are trading illegally.

If you subscribe to a shop you can unsubscribe at any time
