£13.43 VAT -£2.69 I am no tax expert but this to me states clearly that ebay charged me a total of £2.67 VAT, If I am refunded the full amount minus the £0.30 I will be very happily surprised

Here we go again with the same old story Buyer purchases item, leaves wonderful feedback then two weeks later claims the item is broken and wants a refund. Buyer even admits opening the casing of the item to 'have a look inside' this buyer has a feedback score of 3, I have sold on here for years, whose side will ebay take? It's not going to be mine that's for sure regardless of any evidence.

Initially ( usually!), it's the buyer's side because eBay cannot see the item in question.

Cases are all automated no human contact so you have to fully refund through those case details and then appeal the decision.

if you have a message confirming the buyer opened the case of the item, then they may well have damaged it in the process guide eBay to that message.

Here's the appeal link.

Of course I have to refund this idiot first, a person who is using an account which is not his, who has the item delivered to a collect shop address, then when asked for his address for collection of the item will only provide what he claims is his fathers address but which when searched turns out to be the address of an 'internet solutions' company. I doubt there is any point in trying to appeal ebays decision because I don't believe the appeal will even be looked at. Ebay are as bad as that buyer, they hide behind automated systems and 'community experts' No other business that I have ever dealt with has had so little accessibility as ebay, unlike just about every (legitimate) company in the World it is virtually impossible to contact ebay. Chinese based companies provide better customer support service than ebay, which if we are honest provides no real support or service at all.

Here we go if you wish to contact eBay Customer Services, usually less than a 5 minute wait.

Contact them this way.

The contact links can be found on the left on that page.

As an aside, none of us here asked for , or claim to be a ' community expert' , the label just appeared over night.

I see it is also problematic trying to obtain a refund of the fees charged by ebay for the transaction in question. The fees amount to a similar amount to that which I am out of pocket due to having to pay for the return of the item. Final Value Fee Variable percentage · Business, Office & Industrial category -£13.18 Rate for £0.00 - £2,500.00 10.6667% Final Value Fee Per order fixed amount -£0.25 -£0.25 Total fees -£13.43 VAT -£2.69=Total fees (VAT) -£16.12. I also hope that ebay does not 'forget' that they have charged me VAT on this item which if not returned after the sale is null and void and the idiot refunded is in contravention of British tax laws. I do not hold out much hope for the return of my final value fee as it seems this is only applicable if the sale is cancelled. I will not cancel the sale as I intend to appeal the decision, which of course I cannot do until I have received the returned item and paid the con artist for the item which he damaged.

By the way, Thank you for the appeal link and contact details, I am determined not to allow this scamming scum get away with this but have no faith whatsoever that ebay will find in my favour, or even take my evidence into account. Ebay has always considered buyers to be the most important and as such will never side against them in any dispute. People like this who have realised they can be refunded for items they have damaged, be refunded for items they claim were not delivered despite evidence to the contrary are becoming a plague on the site and will only attract more of their kind.

It is high time that ebay trading practices were brought into line with the trading standards laws of the countries in which they trade

VAT is included in the FVF for private sellers, it is just that eBay now 'unhelpfully' show how the fees breakdown. The £0.30 fixed FVF is made up of £0.25 fee and £0.05 VAT = £0.30. You get a fee credit once you refund the buyer.

12.8% of £123.59 is £15.82. £15.82 + £0.30 is £16.12. You have been charged correctly for the fees. It includes VAT.
