Adding a buy it now price

you can't add a buy it now to a live listing with bids,

tell the person to bid along with everyone else

you could, but you would be charged the reserve fees and final value fees for the current listing plus the fees for the new listing, is the amount they are offering above your reserve? if so they just need to bid and you will then be able to end the listing choosing sell to the highest bidder, if it is less revise the listing and reduce the reserve, then they can bid etc.
