Fake Full Sovereign

I have realised that having gone past the resolution period 180 days for EBay disputes, a Full Gold Sovereign is not that. It's fake. I assume there's hundreds of these sold without any investigation by EBay even though it says it won't allow illegal activity.

I invested in a jewellers' mini weighing machine and the coin weighs just 5.5 g and it is even magnetic I have now found.

In circumstances like this surely mitigating circumstances should still agree a refund as no one is likely to know if a gold coin is genuine unless going to lengths I have.

If it took you so long to discover it was fake and you had it your hands, how do you expect eBay to know fakes from real?

eBay gives you 30 days, PayPal gives you 180 days from payment, but don't cover gold.

If the seller was a business seller contact trading standards via CAB.

I’ll take them to Court! They should have measures in place or waive 30/180 days in fraud cases. It should be EBay who ensures items are not fake and have processes to ensure they aren't not I, as it is they who say it's illegal and they don't allow it.

Ebay never see the item, so won't know if it is fake or not, this is why they provide 30 day MBG, you open case within this time & they allow it without any prove. Even you bought fro a shop, they would be suspicious if you came back after 6 months & said fake.

No, because in a shop they would show you the weight is correct and it is not magnetic!. EBay say they don’t allow fake I’ve found fake so I want my money back or to court I’ll go simples!

As I pointed out, ebay never the item, so won't know it's fake.

This is between you & seller, take them to court, you have no chance with ebay.

They have responsibility to treat customers’ fairly and they have failed. See what Court decides!

I trusted as EBay do not allow fakes I was confident in my purchase. Now I have found it fake whether within 30 days 31 32 or more does not matter. They should honour my refund and need to put into place controls to ensure they aren’t allowing this kind of fraud to florish!

It is for aEbay to have systems in place to ensure articles sold are genuine not for me to prove otherwise.
