How do i report a suspicious buyer? There does not seem any way to contact ebay to let them know. I recieved an offer from a supposed buyer but they asked me to contact them via whatsapp which i know is not allowed and it is unsafe. i was going to decline the offer but they have now sent me a spoof email retracting their offer. I have not opened the second email from them but want ebay to see it so they can monitor them. as i do not believe it was a genuine offer and that they are trying to hack my account or get my payment details or something. Im going around in cirlces as each time i try to look under buying issues there is not a category that this issue fits into so i hit a brick wall and the suspicious buyer is still trying to scam me and possibly others because of this loop hole.

It's not really a loophole. If all buyers understood, as you do, that everything to do with ebay goes through ebay messages, then no-one would get scammed. The reason there is no reporting mechanism is becausue these are basically disposable accounts, there is no point monitoring them. For them to send you an email, you must have given them your email address, you shouldn't have done this. So if you did report them you would also be reporting yourself.

Hello, absolutely no way did I give them my email address!!!! They sent a message in the offer asking me to contact them via WhatsApp so that was a bona fide way of contacting me. I did not respond. Then this morning I see there is a message on my phone not on eBay messages that says the offer has been retracted, I can see this is not from or via eBay

So how did they get your phone number to leave a message that way (and you called it an email).

With respect, I don’t think you’re grasping the issue. When I receive an offer, it comes through as an email on my iPhone from eBay, there is also often within that email a message from the prospective buyer, it might say’ is the embroidery hand done or machine’ and you can reply within that email and it’s all via eBay. Never ever direct via their own email. In this case, they provided their phone number but I did not respond/ use their personal number. But yes, now I have another email not from eBay, I can see by the address. So I am worried that I’ve been hacked
