Hello,
I have just noticed that Ebay are charging me VAT on top of the Final valuation fees, never paid this before.
I am a small private seller and sell my own second hand clothing, why would I have to pay VAT when I sell my own used items?
I sell from the UK and only post to the UK.
I am not registered with a VAT number.
I thought that only the big sellers who have shops and businesses have to pay VAT.
I do not understand how it is legal to be charged VAT for my personal items that I own
Can someone please tell me if this is allowed?

They are not charging VAT on top of fees for private sellers they have changed the invoices to show the VAT element separately.

Thank you, but I don't understand how it is legal to charge me any VAT on my own used clothing that I sell to buyers only in the UK., some items sell for only £5 or £10. I am trying to find out why this is allowed.

you are paying VAT on the fees that you pay ebay, it has nothing to do with what you sell, everyone pays VAT
