Some people are just rude, and sadly you have come across one such person. There is never an excuse for it. Just ignore any messages she sends from now on. As Arkwebus says she can't get you kicked off ebay, if it were that easy to get people kicked off there would be no one left here!

hi guys,

looking for help, i bid on an item when i got the alert that i won, i checked it and the size was not right so i immediatley messaged the seller and asked to canel the order. She didnt reply immediatley but yesterday i recieved a message that was pretty aggressive asking why i had bid on it if i didnt want it and refusing to cancel saying she will mark me as a non payer and try and get me kicked off ebay she even called me ridiculous! in all my 10 years of being on here i have never had a message like this and it upset me a bit. I know it was my mistake but it was just that a mistake, i dont feel its fair for her to bully me into buy the item.

Sellers are not required to cancel unless they are a business seller.

Your seller is being a bit unwise in refusing to cancel, she would be better off just cancelling in my opinion and cutting her losses.

However if she does not cancel she is quite right you will get an unpaid strike on your account but one will not harm you, only if you get more than one will it affect your account.

You can hardly expect ebay to step in, after 4 days the seller can cancel the sale and you get an unpaid strike.

It is up to a seller whether they cancel immediately you ask, or wait until day 5 to cancel.

Ebay will not get involved, you have effectively spoilt a seller's auction and you can't expect them to be pleased. By giving you an Unpaid strike the seller protects themselves against having ANY feedback left.

I understand that it is my fault i made the mistake and its not the fact that she wont cancel that bothers me its the way she has put that across and how she has spoken about it that i have an issue with.

Hi.....deep breath 🙂

With hindsight yes you should have double checked the size and listing before bidding. Saying that we are all human and can and do make mistakes. Please dont let it upset you.

Yes you can request the seller to cancel but they do not have to agree to it. If you do not pay then yes you will get a non payment strike against your account. One should not harm your account and one will not "get you kicked off Ebay". The seller is just annoyed. Be aware that most sellers will block bids from anyone with 2 unpaid strikes in the previous 12 months.

To me it sounds as if the seller is letting off steam and all you can do is apologise for your mistake.

Dont let it upset you too much as in the grand scheme of things it is pretty irrelevant when you compare it to whats going on in the real world at the minute.

The rhetorical question she asks is valid if [as implied by "she"] it is a private seller. There is no way you can be "kicked off eBay". All that will happen is that you will be given a "non paayer defect" if you do not pay and unless you get another it will have no real effect. Even if youwere to get another you would not be "kicked off" merely "unable to buy" from sellers who have set their preferences
