Ebay rip off AGAIN

So now ebay holds back MY payments, money paid to me for items sold. That's a good scam if you can get away with it. I am not convinced that I should allow ebay to access my bank account to the extent they require. No other individual or organisation has the level of access which ebay asks, in fact no other has ever even requested such full access.

I started using ebay many years ago as a private seller and progressed to an ebay shop, I eventually gave that up due to ebay inteference and the introduction of ever more suffocating restrictions on sellers while buyers were completely at liberty to do as they pleased.

A lot of ebayers I have spoken to are no longer going to sell on ebay and now I am afraid it may be time to use my account for the occasional purchase only (although I mostly buy off Amazon these days as the service is much better, and with less BS).

I know this will not bother ebay as they no longer care about the small volume sellers who made the site what it was . Now they are only interested in the many huge, usually Chinese warehouses who despite large numbers of monthly negative feedback are still lauded with top seller ratings on account of the positive feedback received for the many thousands of small, cheap items they sell each month.

Why would ebay care when they are raking in an even bigger percentage of each sale?

My bank account has many people who have access by Direct Debit! The insurance, car tax, water, electricity, HMRC for my income tax each year. It is protected by the bank direct debit guarantee as well

The simple fact seems to be that if you do not sign up for managed payments you will not be able to sell.

There certainly is an "inequality of arms". EBay is very big and makes the rules!

Ebay do not want a set direct debit payment, they wantto be able to access my account at any timeand take whatever sum they think they are entitled to, I will assume this will also apply to a situation where ebay decides a refund should be paid to a buyer regardless of the evidence which may have been provided by the seller and which is always ignored by ebay?offered

Thank you I do understand "simple facts" without you explaining them to me, I believe I stated in my original post that I may give up selling rather than agree to the new system being forcedupon me. Perhaps you should read these things more thoroughly. "Expert"

A lot of sellers say the same thing whenever major changes are made, buy few carry it through.

In any case, as you correctly say, eBay wouldn't care if they did. Small private sellers are a remnant of eBay's origins as an online boot sale. Sensibly, they should have split the site years ago, between private and business sellers, with rules more appropriate to each. Instead, it's been clear for years that we are only tolerated as long as we accept the same terms and conditions that apply to professional business sellers.

Yes @thomakin1 - that is called a variable direct debit and is not at all unusual. HMRC does that with me and takes the amount that [they calculate] I owe.

EBay will simply take its 12.8%! I think the way they do it is to remove it from your payment for anything you sell so that if you sell £10 they pay you £8.88 odd [if maths prevails].

I am afraid I do not see the underlying problem. If we like eBay and believe that they are a reputable organisation [and if we did not we would not stay??] then where's the difficulty?

Unfortunately I no longer believe that ebay ARE at all reputable, I have just been paid £10.00 for a transaction, what is 12.8 percent of that? You have it as £1.12, ebay have claimed £1.58 and the correct sum should have been £1.28. Your "reputable" company has stolen an extra £0.30 on a single transaction of only £10.00 how much are ebay going to steal over the course of a whole year ?

In answer to the helpful question from another "expert" again you have not read what I wrote properly, I said that I am considering not selling on ebay, in fact I have removed other items which were listed and have offered them on freeads instead. I will make my decision when I have considered my options

You cant have it both ways, you either accept ebay rules or leave.

No one here is saying they are completely happy with ebay policies but when replying to questions we can only state how this site works.

If you want to complain, try contacting ebay CS, good luck with that!

ebay charge 12.8% plus 30p per transaction, so nothing wrong with ebays maths!. So the claim that it will 'only take a ' 12.8 percent fee per transaction is nonsense isn't it?
