item advertised as BUY 2 GET ONE FREE. 2 PURCHASED BUT ONLY 2 RECEIVED. Seller refuses to suppy missing item.

sorry, but it's like buy two get one free at the supermarket,

you have to put all three through the checkout to get one free,

you only put two through checkout so you only received two

the seller doesn't have to provide the other one

This is sharp practice if not fraud. I BOUGHT two as per the item
description "BUY 2 GET ONE FREE", I did not want to BUY three.
It is not the same as a supermarket : you don't pay for three items at
the checkout then get a refund for one of them.
If I'd BOUGHT three at checkout I would NOT have qualified for "BUY 2
GET ONE FREE" because I'd have BOUGHT 3.
This distorts the market - I went for this seller on the basis of best
price: I now find that the price is a third more than advertised to the
unfair disadvantage to the other vendors.
Regardless of this misuse of the English language the bad will of the
vendor not being willing to send the 3rd misdescribed item is not
comprehensible. Since it would involve him in virtually no 'loss' and
would meet his moral and legal obligation he's using this as a
deliberate ploy to distort the market and generate illegitimate income.
I shall be contacting Trading Standards.

go back to the listing and read the instructions,

when you have an offer like this at the supermarket all items are put through the till and the price of one is taken off before you pay,

you didn't follow the rules so you didn't get the free item,

OK, I've re-read it and here's what the listing says "BUY 2 GET ONE
FREE".
I bought two and did NOT get a free one.
The listing did NOT say "Select 3 to GET ONE of them FREE".
There is even a bracketed instruction to the packing Dept saying "(add 3
to basket)" which they did not do.

the bracketed instruction is for YOU the buyer to add three to your basket! it is supposed to be idiot proof, but clearly not.

I'm not sure which language you're talking, it's plainly not English.
Under no circumstances could "BUY 2 GET ONE FREE" mean you've got to BUY
three.
Even if the bracketed instruction (add 3 to basket) is intended for the
buyer it could only apply if s/he was using a basket which was not the
case. I just went straight from the site to payment.
