We do need the certified versification service that they have in the USA. Or maybe some insurance product for sellers when they reach a certain verified status. Need more buyer info to weed out more subtle bad practise.

Just had an interesting experiance trying to sell a Omega watch on ebay. I did due dilligence, got watch valued and had my listing reflecting this trade value and the amount it would likely achieve.

What happened surprised me. A dealer ended up winning my watch at a fair price, but more than they could ever hope to make a profit on. strange. I then noticed they had the same model watch as mine listed on eBay, their auction ending a couple of days after mine, price asked was top dollar, very strange. They paid and thus I was duly bound to send my watch. It was imediately sent back for a refund.

What had happened was that the buyer had successfully bid my watch out of the market alowing theirs to be the only one available. They then used the powerful buyers eBay returns process to get a refund on my watch.

Good news is eBay agreed with my suspicions, this made me feel better but ultimately my auction was spoilt.

Have to say you were lucky, I would never sell an item of that value on ebay.
