I have received an offer via email. The potential buyer wanted to pay by PayPal. They said that they have sent the money but non has been received. Also, the grammar in both emails just isn't correct. Having worked in Banking for over 30 years I smell a rat. I think the eBay account is fraudulent

There are proper ways to make offers, make payments through Ebay Checkout and BUY through ebay.

Whatever this person says don't take any notice and add to your Blocked bidders List.

As it is a vehicle, you NEVER accept Paypal, cars should be paid for in cash or bank transfer. A paypal payment can be subject to a Chargeback up to I think 13 months into the future and the only defence to that is proof of Posting to the address on the paypal payment.

As that is impossible you would be forced to refund, long after the card has gone and to add to the pain Paypal make a £14 charge.

The BMW ? ... You are not required to, nor should you accept PayPal for Vehicles ... too many scams and your car could be long gone or stripped to parts before the faked PayPal payment fails !.

Cash on inspection/collection is the safest and best payment method for vehicles ... or ... mutually agreed/confirmed/deposited Bank Transfer before releasing the Vehicle and documents personally to the buyer, so ... No Paypal or transporter collections ...

No PayPal payments including holding deposits should be made as there is absolutely No Buyer payment protection offered for Collection items/Vehicles.
