glue traps.

It's so bad to see a story on sky news UK on the sale of glue traps (a board covered in glue which animals including cats get stuck too) and the cruelty attached which are also affecting pets such as cats. The RSPCA are asking retailers to ban the sale of such items, Amazon UK have banned them amongst others but eBay have not. As the UK is an animal loving nation not to mention most of the world, does this report worry any other sellers that such articles will dissuade many buyers from looking on EBay and may well turn to Amazon instead?.

Has the RSPCA made representations to eBay?

If so, what was the outcome?

Hi, yes apparently they have requested eBay uk to ban the sale of such
items, here’s their reply.

We have written letters to Ebay about glue traps a number of times in
the past but sadly we never have any luck, unlike Amazon UK and a few
other online retailers.

Though I don’t personally support the cruelty of any living thing including insects, my concerns are as a seller, I do not want to be classed as uncaring by simply selling on a platform that won’t support a ban of selling items that Incur cruelty and in doing so appear to support the selling of such items. eBay is a great platform from which I have bought and sold for over 25 years, it would be a shame to be seen as a supporter of cruelty, when such reports are circulating on news platforms such as sky it’s not long before the population are pointing fingers. “You sell on that platform that supports cruelty”, is a comment we don’t want to see.

I agree with your sentiment, but just checked Amazon & they are still selling them,
the problem is they are not illegal to sell, but can harm all sorts of other animals they are not intended for, so it is a moral issue.
Unless RSPCA are very proactive in getting them banned, nothing to stop them being sold.

So?. Someone has managed to list some on Amazon doesn’t mean their not supposed to. Someone listing some for sale doesn’t distract from the fact they are still cruel to use. So?.
