Scams galore on , online selling, and eBay certainly not immune to their fair share, some dafter than others, some frighteningly real looking, and do fool many.

The obvious golden rule is to never click on any links in them, but to delete and ignore or forward to spoof@ebay.com

Afternoon! Has anyone else been getting full price offers on items with a message asking you to contact them on WhatsApp?
I haven’t obviously, but was wondering how they expect to scam you ..... or better still ... why anyone would respond??

Hi

How the scam works is they tell you that they have problems with their Paypal ...Lies

They ask you for your Paypal details through Whatsapp and then they send you a FAKE but very real looking email which "is from Paypal" saying you have been paid. They hope you just rely on this email saying you have been paid and post the item.

IF anyone does the above....when they sign into their actual Paypal account they will find to their horror they have NOT been paid and been scammed.

Go to help and contact tab at the top of the page and search BLOCK A BUYER and immediately add this person to your blocked list so they cannot bid on any of your listed items.

People unfortunately do respond and get scammed and then come crying to these Boards and we have to give them the bad news 😞

Thanks for the reply - it’s totally obvious there’s a scam from the off! I hope too many people don’t fall for it. This one has tried on a couple of my items within a few hours. Thanks for the info 👍

Get Outlook for iOS

One way to avoid this is not to use whatsApp, Faceache or any social media!

😁 .... I’m with you there 👍. Think I was more in sensed by the fact that said plank (scammer) thought I might fall for it just a couple of hours later after failing on the 1st attempt - this time on a different item I was selling. 2 different, but very similar user names - but same message and phone number 😏😴 .... falls somewhat short of genius.
I survived 😁
Thanks for the reply, have a good evening

Get Outlook for iOS
