Question Re: proof of postage ? in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

So what do you do if someone with less than 10 feedback places a bid? Do you cancel it?

To treat all newish buyers in the same way is a bit unfair and you can be 'ripped off' by members with 100s of feedback aswell.

proof of postage ?

The item posted (small letter size envelope) standard postage to the buyer, was with an eBay printed Royal mail label and at the post office a printed proof of postage obtained. The tracking number on the item is automatically uploaded so the seller can see the item has been sent. The seller now claims he hasn't recieved the item (there's usually one or two most months !)

The seller was sent straight away a copy of the prood of postage. The seller has now opened a case.

Is this sufficient and the fact that my listing has stated for many years that 'if standard mail and a copy of proof of postage is not sufficient, then please request a signed for service and postage cost will be amended)

Will eBay just refund the seller and leave me with making some sort of postal claim ?

Regards

Graham

Unless you can prove by online tracking that the buyer got the item, you will have to refund the buyer. Proof of postage means nothing, as does your listing wording.

I'm afraid unless you can prove the buyer received their item then you would lose an item not received case.

You can make an online claim on RM's website or you can get a paper claim form from the post office. Include with your claim a copy of the paypal confirmation of payment email, the ebay listing page, any messages from the buyer confirming non receipt and the proof of postage receipt. Keep copies of all paperwork.

You cannot submit a claim until 10 working days after the package was due to be delivered but you must not make your buyer wait for their refund.

http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help-and-support/royal-mails-retail-compensation-policy-for-loss#N...

I'm sorry but the T&Cs on your listing are not enforceable, for items of the value you're selling a buyer is not going to pay more for signed for/tracked postage.

You also cannot tell anyone with less than 10 feedback not to bid. What is so wrong with buyers who don't meet that criteria? There was a time when you had less than 10 feedback.

Hi
Thanks Angela that was helpful on the postage

Regarding telling people with less than X feedback not to bid is something I picked up from other eBayers
who like myself had been ripped off and it works very well for me.
Thanks
Graham
