As a Business Seller you are obliged to accept a return for any reason so if you don't accept a return ebay will do it automatically.

If you accepted and refunded you will get your selling fee refunded, if buyer had to escalate to ebay, then you do not get selling fee refunded.

You can appeal the refund, but it is my opinion merely going through the motions as I have never heard of a refund being reversed. One of the many risks of selling on ebay.

Hi

A buyer asked for a return as it was bought by mistake, this was automatically accepted by ebay. The item has arrived back but it was damaged in the post as it wasn't packaged properly ( it needed a card stiffener and should have been marked do not bend). I can sell it again but I will have to reduce the price by around half. How do I deal with this now, I tried accepting the return but saying it was damaged but ebay still wanted me to issue a refund for the full amount.

Thanks
