postal workers still working with social distancing measures

Does ebay understand that the in Royal mail sorting offices, are still working under social distancing measures and therefore cannot guarantee any postal delivery times? and what are ebay doing to protect sellers acounts against this ongoing problem, thanks

Wise sellers are increasing their handling times by a couple of days to make up for it, and ebay have been removing late dispatch defects for the asking in most cases.

Probably they're not doing enough but they have staff problems of their own.

My royal mail deliveries have been just fine, except for 1 seller who was obviously using it as an excuse to delay posting & I hate people who take advantage of tragedy.

Best just to adjust your delivery times.

really because if i appeal a defect it's automatically declined, but that's not the point is it, ebay obviously know of the issue! why have they not extended the seller protection for this?

You speak as if this is a UK problem when it isn't.

I bought an item a couple of days ago, it was posted yesterday 2nd class and I received it today.

In fact everything I have bought and sold over the past few months using RM have been delivered within a pretty good timely manner.

As I have said - many times - there is no general problem and that @angelah1847 agrees.

I have bought many many things during lockdown and without exception all have arrived within eBay's [slightly extended] delivery time. 90% arrive within 24 or 48 hours. I have a regular 1st class [non eBay] delivery which arrives regular as clockwork every Wednesday. My postie even said that things were easier as the roads were clearer.

We do however read of people who have decided - off their own bat - to list in March and not deliver till Covid is over. It might even be prudent for them but it will not do for eBay.

as a rule of thumb i always post on the same day as being ordered however, some still are experiencing late deliveries, i have queried RM and they themselves have admitted there is in some sorting offices post to the ceiling and workers working to distancing rules, deliveries are now made in a solo status due to only 1 postie per van which obviously interferes with delivery estimates. i have ordered many things on ebay during this covid season and nothing has been on time, but i understand it due to the circumstances, post to london seems to be 100% but outside is lacking, maybe you live in an area which isn't affected, you can't speak for the rest of the country on your narrow field of vision can you! you haven't really help with anything, you've just involved your personal feelings to the matter, that wasn't the question, but hey thanks for trying!

I take your point that my delivery office is not affected in the slightest but there is the other side of it that what I buy comes from all over UK. I am not in London.

Some may be affected but eBay has built in a little bit more time to account for that. I can only report my experience and you can see that I leave feedback commenting.

In all my many years of eBay I have never had a delivery go astray. I have never had a UK item where I needed to open a not as described case. I have never needed to leave a -ve. When I have sold things I have not had any problems. Like you it is sent on the first humanly possible time.

I have bought conjuring tricks for 99p from China which arrive without instructions which go in the bin as life's too short.

While there may be some local difficulties, deliveries have gone remarkably well. 2nd Class Mail frequently being delivered next day, and other deliveries very much on time.

Even overseas mail has not suffered any serious delays,with feedback being received within 4/5 days.

I think that any late deliveries are down to late posting by sellers, using COVID 19 as an excuse, rather than late delivery by RM.

I can sympathise with the OP because our postal service is still all over the place. Sometimes we can go about 4 days with no post whatsoever and then on day 5 we get a shipping order, so much stuff that the poor postie is weighed down.

I still think RM is struggling to meet targets, whether it;s because some of their staff are still off work or whether it;s something else I don't know. We are very slow to open INRs though in our house. They are always a last resort to avoid losing money.

Everywhere is different. It depends on how its all managed really.
I don't believe we can blame eBay or Royal mail.
Being 2 metres apart, doesn't stop people working together to do the right thing but some don't care, another reason the virus spreads.

Well i totally disagree with you, obviously ebay know the situation yet have not extended seller protection, RM i can understand as they have to put up with distancing measures, buyers should of course be more understanding and take this into account, however i have worked hard to make sure all materials and sourced and everything possible to enhance ebay's reputation in this period, yet i feel let down by ebay, because they could of quite easily helped more so in this situation by extending their protection period! but i would like to hear more of this time extension you speak of

They extended the time in the beginning
I've no idea if they intend to do more. I don't work for them.
Maybe they want to do more but can't because they're so short on staff.
Or maybe some would prefer they closed eBay down with there staff shortage & wouldn't that be stupid but some companies would & do.
