A buyer has purchased something from me 'in error', and paid via Paypal - If I automatically cancel(item is £40) will I encounter fees? I seem to recall getting stung last time this occured

Cancel choosing buyer change of mind as the reason and then issue the refund.

Ebay will refund their seller fee but Paypal won't refund their fee.

so is that regarded as tough luck and I should take it on the chin, or should I ask the person to reimburse the Paypal fees - guess the fees will be £3.00 approx. on a £40 sale - unfortunately I am locked out of Paypal with password issues and the help methods do not work to get me back on there - been going round in circles for months on that score, I may have to write to them, phone is not answered by anyone but a bot and then rings off

You can ask them to cover your Paypal fee but you won't be able to force them and neither ebay or Paypal will help.

And if you were to issue a partial refund to cover the loss of the Paypal fee then ebay won't refund their fee.

It's only recently that Paypal for whatever reason decided not to reimburse fees.

Obviously the charge is not going to make me or break me, but it is the principle that is wrong - on a larger scale, imagine if the purchase was £1000 - Paypal fees would be somewhat hefty, and I would expect most people would be seeking to be reimbursed
Anyone know what the fee is on £40 - -as prev mentioned I am locked out of Paypal so won't be able to check
