The reason I asked the question was because I had not ever seen this before and was stunned by it, when ever I have posted anything out like this and I have on quite a few occasions I have always got a price for it before listing as I wouldn't want to undercharge or overcharge for it and it's not difficult is it after all if you have the weight and dimensions you can get the price. But thanks for your help.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help, I have just won an item, nowhere in the description does it mention postage costs, where it shows how it will be posted it says courier but no price in the listing it says courier but no price. My question is after I won the item I received a message from the seller asking for my postcode so they could get the price for postage and for me to request a total invoice so they could add it? Now I don't know about anyone else but I've never purchased anything on-line without knowing how much the postage is going to be, but apparently eBay are allowing this because they to say I have to request an invoice total when I went to pay. I've just wasted an hour txting customer services and all he could basically say was if I need help requesting the total invoice he could show me how, at this point I'm ready to start swearing, I didn't. please help am I in the wrong I did contact the seller about it but they came back with "it's collect only or I will go halves with the courier cost" I promise you it does not say that anywhere on the listing and they still didn't tell me how much they expect me to pay? btw I've been using eBay for over 12yrs so not a newby.

Regards Shirley

it's perfectly normal

sellers have the option of stating a P&P cost or choosing courier delivery-contact seller for cost

you should have contacted the seller for a quote before you purchased the item

once purchased you have to provide the seller with your post code so they can provide you with an invoice with the courier costs included

once you provide your postcode the seller can invoice you

Thank you for your reply, I have never seen this before and the point is, they didn't ask buyers to contact them for costs.

Thank you for your reply. But surely, they have to inform buyers to contact them, which they didn't. So I thought it was free delivery, we are talking about a fairly high priced item but not unusually large or heavy probably around £6 recorded 1st class, it's not the extra cost, it just appears to me to be a bit of a scam, and as you said, I appear to be at the mercy of the seller.

they don't have to ask buyers to contact them for costs

if you click on the Postage and Payments tab it states you have to contact the seller for a postage price

you've been selling on ebay for years,

are you saying you have never seen the courier option when creating your listings?

It just said courier, but no price against it and there wasn't anything about delivery charges in the description or postage information, nowhere on the listing did it say there would be a delivery charge neither did they ask buyers to contact them for a price, this is why I believed it was free delivery. as I said this item is not a cheap couple of quid piece, it's a over £200 and the delivery charge should be around about £6 recorded. As it is they now say they stated in the description that it was collection only and if buyers wanted delivery they would go halves. This is not true it does not say anything of the sort, if it did why are they charging over £21+ for 48hr parcel force and deducted £10+, that's not half, I recently posted a very large item this way which weighed 5kg it cost me £13+ the item I've bought is smaller than a microwave and weighs about 3kg. I know I'm being pedantic over this but I have been doing this a long time, I have a business on here and if I don't get it then how are newbies going to understand it and not get ripped off. I'm also pretty annoyed about it. Regards Shirley
