Remove goods from trolley

I want to remove items from "trolley" but when I press Remove button a pop up appears stating I have committed to buy the article and need to get the seller to clear it. Can anyone explain what I may have done wrong? Thought I could clear the trolley of items I decided not to purchase.

Hover over the basket icon, top right of page and "Remove item" should appear. Click on that. Use a laptop/PC rather than the app.

If that doesn't work then you have bought them and you need to contact seller and ask them to cancel transaction.

Thanks for your reply. It does appear that I have bought the items and I have contacted the seller to request he cancels the order. However I am confused in that I believed goods in the trolley were not a commitment to buy.
