No returns for private sellers only applies to change of mind by buyer, if buyer claims not as described, you have to accept or ebay will force you to.
34 NEW items makes you a business, private sellers are those getting rid of unwanted mostly USED items.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/selling-policies/business-seller-policy?id=4710

I recently sold an item that was brand new in box. I had x2, one I have used successfully for a year with no issues.

I sold the other on eBay recently as I no longer need it and have been having a clear out, and much below the original retail price.

The buyer has now put in a claim, stating that the product is damaging her hair, and asking to return and refund, through the eBay return policy!

I know that the product is excellent from my own experience, and I know the product arrived exactly as described on the listing, brand new in box.

The buyer is claiming the item is not of good quality, which I know also to be untrue.

I am already well out of pocket having posted the item, and now this?

Advice please. Am I on to a loser here disputing the claim?

If something arrives broken by royal mail in the post, no dispute, full refund and claim in against Royal Mail, but it appears to me that the item purchased just does not suit the buyer, or she has changed her mind, whatever, certainly not a genuine claim, and now she has used my item as well, so it is now used!

if the buyer opens a not as described case you need to accept the return and issue a prepaid label.

In any event, if you fight the buyer they can even go to trading standards and claim [from your listings] that you are actually a business seller and therefore must accept all returns.

Not a business seller. Had account for 5 years and only have 30/40 feed backs as a seller,, rest are as a buyer. Listing stated no returns accepted, save for obviously genuine claims such as broken items in transit,, that I have refunded no questions.

Perfectly described. New in box and in full working order. I have another identical pair used by myself for over a year. Good brand premium product, and if they weren't a premium product would not have 10 heat settings nor an extra long 3m swivel cable. Buyer claims the product is ripping her hair out! NOT THAT THEY ARE BROKEN, RATHER DEFECTIVE AS CLEARLY MISUSING.

They are hair straighteners,, not tongs, and I have successfully used IDENTICAL product myself for over a year with perfect results. I fail to see how some flat irons can rip anyone's hair out if used correctly, and hair is clean! They are used to straighten hair, not wrap your hair around in them like a pair of curling tongs, or have something in your hair that sticks to the irons.

Now she has left positive derogatory feedback, which kind of confirms perhaps not all there! Not been rude to her at all, but to open a return falsely, is causing me stress, given the product originally retailed for over £30, and I sold for £15 inc delivery which was against my better judgement.

Return request as follows:

Reason

Doesn't work or is defective

Comments

It is fretful it keeps reaping my hair out not a good product please send return label and refund me
