What does one do when a seller does not reply or give a refund after item has been returned.

Why did you return the item

It is important to know what the problem was as to which dispute you open or opened

You open a dispute in the resolution centre at the bottom of the page

Put the tracking into the dispute for the return of the item

The seller should refund and if they dont then you escalate to ebay

Thank you. An item was sent which was not as listed, totally different product. I am sorry, I am new at this, I have never been in a situation such as this.

Why did you return the item?
If you opened a dispute then you put the tracking into the dispute
Esclate the dispute when ebay says so
It is important we know so we can give the best advice
Did you send it back tracked or with the 16digit code from the Post office receipt
If you did not do that then you will not win any dispute

You don't have to communicate with the seller, there is a perfectly good way to deal with Returns, IT IS CALLED the Money Back Guarantee which is on every listing. Unless you follow procedure then the seller can ignore you until it gets to the point that you are out of time.

Thank you, but it doesn't apply here, as it says that "this product is not under money back guarantee".. It is a nightmare to contact Ebay. I will, in future, be very careful to buy anything from Ebay!

What product is not under Money Back Guarantee? There are very few and it is not up to seller to say that.

The onlymajor exceptions are "motors" and "digitally delivered goods" so what are these?

Or - of course - that you have passed the 30 days allowed for by eBay. It sounds as if you have sent the item off with some "do it yourself method" rather than the MBG if you think this does not apply.

No, not any of the above apply. It was Ebau saying that it does not come under the 'money back guarantee'.

OP ! Please come back and tell us what this item was, everything bar very few items, cars , motorcycles for example, are covered under eBay's 30 day MBG.

Who told it wasn't? The seller ? They are lying? eBay CS ? They often spout out nonsense.

If the item was returned as you say for item not as described, you just open a case for this, and for a return you can escalate after 48 hours, eBay then step in and fully refund you.

Hi, Thank you so much for coming back to me. The product is "Anti Bacterial, Alcohol Hand Wipes". It was a message from Ebay saying that it is not covered under Ebay money back guarantee. I have never done this, and don't know how to go about opening a case. I have tried, but it seems extremely difficult to get anywhere.

Both the sellers for whom you have left negative feedback appear to have jumped on the antibac bandwagon, and both have a string of negative feedbacks.

I haven't even tried to keep abreast of all eBay's advice on the covid situation, but there's nothing on their money back guarantee policy page to say that these items are not covered. Someone else here will probably be able to tell you. Otherwise, it's possible the message was a fake.

You can open a case or cases through the resolution centre. The worry is that you already appear to have returned the items. If you had opened a case first, eBay would have required the sellers to send you prepaid return labels.

The big question is did you return these items by a tracked delivery service, or at least by a Royal Mail postage service that provides a delivery number on your proof of posting. Have you checked the tracking or delivery numbers on RM's track and trace web site? If they confirm delivery, you will be able to enter the numbers in the case, when eBay asks for them. Without proof of return delivery there will be no point in opening a case.

If these items are really not covered by eBay's MBG or you've left it too late, you can open a case under PayPal's buyer longer, 180 day protection policy.

It would have been so much easier, for you and for us, if you had read and followed eBay's rules or asked here for advice before returning these items.

AAAAHHHH had you said that in the first place it would have solved the problem!

eBay are removing hundreds of thousands of Covid 19 related items, like yours because in the past many sellers were profiteering from this crisis with exorbitant pricings.

Now, only registered businesses can sell them.

So what you have to do now is to claim with Paypal not eBay.

Log into your PP account, on the left select Resolve a problem, open the relevant case , and enter that eBay have removed the item from their site. Ignore that it says go back to eBay scroll past all that, and stick with the Paypal case.

Escalate within 20 days for a full refund. @rspi9309

Thank you for your comment, so much appreciated. I did have a return label sent to me, which I used for the return, and Ebay acknowledged that he item was returned. However, since then I had no communication. So proof of posting is there. I am 75 years old, I have never done this before, I don't know where to begin. You are very kind to take the time to explain. THANK YOU, a Happy Easter to you too, albeit being a very quiet one this time. Still we have to go through with it the best we can. I have now lodged a 'case' with PayPal. I don't know if it will get me anywhere, the money has been paid and I have no product. Still, it will teach me a lesson to be more careful before ordering with Ebay again. I am 75 years old, and I really don't need all this hassle. I ordered these wipes to protect myself. Thank you again for being so kind an listen to my woes.
