Hi all

Right I bought a coin off a seller last week yea the envelope turned up but with no coin in it had fallen out , am I entitled to a refund or no?

Was the envlope damaged or look as if it had been tampered with?

Keep all the packaging safe so the seller can claim

Open a not as described dispute at the bottom of the page under Resolution Centre.

Escalate it after a full 8 days of opening the dispute.

The seller needs to send a pre paid label for the return.

If they dont then ebay should when you escalate the dispute.

Make sure it goes back tracked and that the tracking is in the dispute.

You have 30 days from the day of delivery to open a dispute in ebay

If you fail on ebay then you open the dispute in paypal and escalate it as soon as you can but within 20 day

Coins can easily make their way out of an envelope if it is not secruely packaged, and edges of envelope strengthened with tape.

Yes, you are entitled to a refund, as it is the seller's unfortunate fault for not sending out a securely packaged item.

Open a case for item not as described in the Resolution Centre link at foot of most page, not a case for item not received, as you did receive a package! Escalate on days 9 - 21 if not refunded beforehand.

Do not close the case early, and do not forget to escalate.

Hi thanx for your comments I thought I was entitled to a refund but wanted to make sure first , I have opened a case for this and the sellers response was "no you ain't having a refund because I sent it out to you and it's not my fault that it has escaped from envelope". Well I thought what a lovely message like . So gunna wait for ebay to step in after the 8 days .

Hi thank you for your comment, the envelope wasnt tampered with the coin was wrapped up in a small bit of bubble wrap but the sticky tape had come away and it looks like the coin has slipped through the gap at the top of the envelope .

I would guess too that coins should be sent "Special Delivery" by Royal Mail. So the seller will not get a refund from them.

As advised by @tressygirl you have opened a case. Do not have any dealings with the seller.

You did - I hope - open a "not as described" case? You must not have opened a "non receipt" case as if the seller can show delivery [of an empty envelope even] by tracking you will not get a refund.

"Not as described" - ordered a coin and envelope but got just an envelope!

No as I sent both items as I said I would with a first class stamp all sealed and you received the letter so it's not my fault if someone's took it out at the sorting office talk to ebay about it thanks

Thank you. Please follow @tressygirl advice. It does not matter what the seller says. Did you open - as advised - a "not as described case"? That is what you must do and you escalate it after 8 days. You do not talk to the seller nor to Royal Mail

Again ignore that someone took it quote, had it been properly disguised say between two pieces of card it would prevent the item being ' seen' as a coin.

No matter what happened. item was not received by you, you are due a full refund which you will get under eBay's 30 day MBG, and I doubt that the seller here has taken out adequate extra insurance cover, therefore he will not be able to claim any compensation from Royal mail.

Was it an expensive coin?

It is the sellers fault you did not get your coin
It is up to the seller to get the item safely to the buyer
That did not happen
Your item is not as described
When they send the pre paid label you return the empty envelope as you received it

Hi guys it was the Bond alphabet 10p coin plus I'm waiting on the letter Z that he said he sent out so we will wait n see if this one will turn up tomorrow some time if not another case will be open on that .

Both coins came to £6.81 I know it dont seem a lot but when your on low income that's a lot to me , I wanted it to complete my album , but there we go that's the risk you take when buying off someone .

No one needs to see the packaging
Just do the dispute and get your money back
The seller may ask you to return it but they have to send a pre paid label for the return
