eBay have deserted sellers

Impossible to contact eBay regarding problems that they have caused! I bought an item then received a messaage from eBay informing me that they have deleted the item listing due to 'concerns'! They mentioned that there would be a message in my Inbox about the problem but there was nothing. I tried to call only to get a message that due to Corona virus no calls were being accepted so then I tried to email them to be informed that no emails are being accepted either!!

How can eBay delete a listing for an item that you have ordered without automatically making a refund? I have used eBay to buy items hundreds of times in the past years but will certainly be looking at Amazon if this is the way they treat customers who have a problem.

They don't automatically refund because you may still get the item. If you don't , then you can open a case in paypal for item not received and get a refund through them. It's a simple problem with a simple solution that doesn't need you to contact anyone.

And you are a buyer, not a seller, ebay deserted sellers a long time ago.

Don't knock eBay's system of removing items that raise concerns, either about the item or the seller. This has saved a lot of buyers from losing money.

EBay can't make automatic refunds because they don't receive the money for items sold here. Neither do they know whether it has been, or still may be delivered. If the buyer is entitled to a refund the procedure depends on how the buyer paid, and not all purchases even qualify for buyer protection.

As eBay's customer support has almost disappeared in the present crisis, if you don't receive your item the best thing to do will be to file a dispute under Paypal's buyer protection policy, see: https://www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/article/what-if-i-didn%27t-receive-my-item-or-it%27s-not-as-advertised-faq1344

Neatly avoided the main problem I note - eBay marked the deleted listing message against my purchase and said they had sent me a message about it - they haven't
