How to report a bad seller

Seller claims he is a UK seller but reading feedback he is clearly in China. How do eBay let sellers do this and continue to be allowed to rip people off?

Ebay doesn't, but what exactly are you wanting to complain about.

Unless you have bought assuming that delivery would be a few days and it turns out to be a few weeks, then if estimated delivery date is past you open a Not Received Case and escalate to Ebay after 8 days.

If you have not bought then you do not know where they shipfrom as many have stock in the UK.

You only get ripped off if you fail to read the information on the listing and buy regardless, or fail to use the tools that ebay provide to get a refund.

If you read this seller's listings carefully, I'm sure they will state that the item location is in the UK.

This doesn't necessarily mean that the seller is in the UK. Many sellers in China have a distribution base in the UK, which allows them to list items as UK stock. It's sometimes not obvious that the seller is in China. To check, look at their feedback page.

If an item is misrepresented as being located in the UK, but is actually send from China, this is reportable to eBay using the reporting link provided in every listing (far right, opposite Postage and Payments).

Report Category: Select 'listing practices'.
Reason for Report: Select 'other listing practices policy violations'
Detailed Reason: select 'Item location misrepresentation'

Incidentally, if the item location is stated to be in the UK, you do NOT have to return it to China in the event of an eBay money back guarantee claim. EBay will require the seller to send a prepaid return label to their UK address.

Thank you. I haven’t bought anything yet but the 5 buyers I was considering to buy from have terrible feedback. People are waiting weeks for delivery and people who are ok about the delivery state the items are nothing like the photos. I just want to buy an item that will arrive within the set timeframe - I know postage is taking longer right now and I want what I’ve paid for. Not something fake. I know you get what you pay for but I wanna sos shocked reading their feedback at how unhappy people are and eBay allow them to keep selling! I hope you’re all keeping safe - Bex 🙂
