Help with sold item sent to wrong address.

Hi ebayers. A couple weeks ago, I accidentally sent an item I sold to the wrong address. I contacted the seller on the 8th March about the error and asked to send it back to me so I could send it to the right address (I had my senders address on the package). I’ve not had a reply back and not received the item.

Please help as the buyer has been patiently waiting since the beginning of the month and I need to get the item to them.

Do you mean you contact the person you sent the item too.

Did you sent them a pre paid label for the return.

Did you mix up two items or just sent one to the wrong address

There is nothing you can do to force the return

Your buyer should open a not received dispute and you refund in full through the dispute to get your fees back

You do not get the paypal fees back

did you send them the money to return the item or did you expect them to pay the return costs themselves?

Oh dear , there is nothing you can do to enforce that buyer to send you back your item, they may even be in isolation, and not able to repost it.

Message the correct buyer of the item the mistake you have made, and would they kindly accept a cancellation request. If they do, then go right of the item sold More Actions >> Cancel Order, and select Buyer requests to cancel. This refunds them fully, and refunds your seller fee.

Do not refund directrly through Paypal, that makes you pay that fee, and gain a damaging defect.

Hi. Thanks for the quick response. I did inform the buyer weeks ago and have issued an update since then. Not yet done the cancellation request yet. Great advice, cheers 👍

No. I told them I would cover the costs of postage. I didn’t go into anymore detail than that. I was thinking they’d either pay for the postage and then ask me to cover the cost or, ask me to PayPal them the money.

You need to arrange the postage label for them to return
I know you you are saying you would pay the postage but many members have been caught out that way and would not refund the postage
If it was not addressed to them by name they could have returned it as Not at this address

There are also some members who would not return the items anyway and can not be forced to

Yeah I did contact the person I sent the wrong item to. I didn’t send a prepaid label. I sent 1 item to them. Could also contact them and ask if they’d accept a cancellation and refund on the order.

You have done all you can
It is a mistake I am sure many of us have done sometime in our sellingand a shame some people are so dishonest
There is nothing you can do to get your item back
You do need to refund the original buyer they have been very patient
I would ask them to open a not received dispute or a cancellation
If a cancellation then you go to More actions to the right of the item and then Cancel order and allow ebay to refund
You get your ebay fees back but not the paypal fees
