The thing with buy it nows and the new rules is that I don't want to hang on to things for 30 days but if I were to end them after, say, 10 days, then firstly ebay would get upset and think I am trying to trade off site and secondly, someone might have been going to bid later. Unfortunately, I will never get used to that, as I just want the stuff gone from my house so that we can eventually move home.

How to stop items automatically relisting

Last weekend, when it was a £1 only fvf, I listed an item in excess of £300. I made sure that the automatic relisting box wasn't ticked but, still, when the auction finished, it relisted itself. This means that if it sold this time I would have to pay £30. That is a big chunk off my money. So obviously I don't want it relisted now. I have 'ended' the auction which never goes down well with Ebay, but that's tough. 10% is too much.
Can anyone, please, tell me, how do I stop this from happening again. Surely if the box isn't ticked, it shouldn't relist? Thanks for your time.

After selecting Sell, go top right and use the advanced / business listing tool, ignore that ir says it's for business and high volume sellers only, it isn't , it's for everyone to use.

That then gives you more control over your listing, you can un tick that auto relist box, and this time it should remain unticked, and not relisting the item.

You can do as said in the advice already given by using the Advanced listing tool but some of your items are buy it now

Buy it now or fixed price items the items will list automatically as that is what the terms are.

If you do not want them to relist then end them just before they are due to be relisted

Thanks to both of you. I will look into that. Much appreciated.
So ebay are doing a bit of a 'sneaky' move with a box that suggests you can stop things relisting but actually doesn't. Gosh that doesn't sound like them at all, does it? Lol

Yes, I know about the B.I.N. ones auto relisting, thanks. I absolutely hate they way we have been forced into that 'good 'til sold' thing. It might be fine for business sellers but it really doesn't work for private sellers.
Most of my items, I just want rid of. I don't want them hanging around forever and people won't bid if there's a chance something better/cheaper come along while they are waiting. Such is the way of the world.
I had a frustrating live chat about that with Ebay where the gentleman repeatedly agreed with me but then followed it up with "but it will help you". We were just going round in circles. It's not as though they would change their mind. All they can see is a few more pence going into the coffers and damn the sellers.
Sorry, Monday rant over, lol, thanks again for your help x

You can change auction items from being relisted if you use the advanced listing tool and make sure the box is not ticked

There is no problem with the BiN if you make sure you end the listings before the item is due to relist.

There is no point in contacting ebay as you often get the written replies they have and the CS can not change anything the rules are there for us all

Yes some / most 'enhancements ' eBay dream of are disliked by the majority, but to be honest once they are here for any length of time, and you use the site enough, you forget, what it was like before, and it becomes, well ..... OK !

I forgot to say, the only reason I contacted ebay about the BIN thing is that I had totally missed the announcement that I was now being bulldozed into the good til' sold thing & thought I must have hit a glitch.
In the same way that I must have had the day off when it was decided that I could no longer see my own purchased items on my feedback. I found that very helpful when I was searching for things I'd bought a while back. I really must get used to other people knowing what I want, without asking...

Hi again, same question as before, sort of. I went to use the advanced/business tool which worked for me before, only to find it is no longer there!

Is that something else I agreed to while I was asleep? ;o) Is there another way of preventing the automatic relist (with the relist box unticked, but relisting anyway)
