Question Re: Why are so many business sellers allowed to have priv... in Member To Member Support DO NOT DELETE

That's a very good question.

Last year it was announced that eBay is co-operating with HMRC to identify unregistered business sellers. We haven't seen much evidence of this.

There are still large numbers of obvious business sellers passing themselves off as private sellers, avoiding tax, denying buyers their statutory consumer rights and exploiting promotions intended for bona fide private sellers.

But eBay doesn't seem to care. As far as I know, there still isn't even a reporting link to report unregistered business sellers. Wouldn't this have been the obvious first thing to provide if they're serious about rooting them out?

We all ask the same question.....espevcially when a seller has 100's of new items

BUT

That's down to eBay who do not police that side of the site.......or complaints to Trading Standards by individuals.....which if you spot a seller you are at liberty to do

Ebay are always trying to squeeze extra pennies out of sellers, when by a little bit of research they could pick up all these people avoiding paying fees. I am afraid they get their priorities wrong so many times.

Virtually every day we see several examples of Unregistered Sellers asking questions which they as Business Sellers should know how to deal with.

As well as avoiding their responsibilities to buyers, they are able to compete unfairly with Genuine Business Sellers. Can only suggest that you report to Trading Standards or Customs and Revenue, who may act.
