I see you have "No Returns".

If a buyer has a problem and wants to change their mind, and they know the system, they simply open a Not As Described Case to get a Refund. No Returns can be like a Red Rag to a Bull and can prove expensive for you.

A sensible returns policy "Returns Accepted within 14 days, buyer pays return postage" is much more user friendly and can save you money, and avoid the sort of buyer who will damage the item so that they can claim not as described. You have to pay return postage, refund and have an item unfit for resale.

It looks as though you have still to make your first sale, but are you aware that Auction with BIN costs a non refundable fee of 50p. Not a lot but it is best to stick to Auction or BIN, then no sale means no fee.

An alternative that also costs nothing to list is either Auction with Best Offer or BIN with Best offer.

When selling an item, what rights do I have to protect against buyer scams?

Many people may say it got lost or wasnt delivered. How do I best protect the money being received for my item?

"Many people may say it got lost or wasnt delivered"

You use the correct postage and tracked - you enter the tracking number in to the transaction as soon as you have posted the item.

Selling on ebay is a risk you just have to do all you can to avoid problems

You have no rights on ebay as they will amost always go with buyers

Start with small cheaper items to get used to ebay

When you post if it is a packet then send with RM as there is a 16 digit code on the receipt which acts as tracked for ebay

If items are over £20 they need to be sent tracked or special delivery

If you can not prove by tracking saying Delivered then you lose any dispute so it is important

Put tracking onto the item in your sold section straight away

Provided the tracking or delivery number confirms that an item was delivered there isn't much risk of false "item not received" claims. Just remember that eBay requires you to enter the tracking or delivery number when marking the item as dispatched.

The much bigger risk, especially when selling anything of value, is that sellers are defenceless against false "not as described" claims. EBay doesn't even see the item, and it's default policy on case of doubt is to take the buyer's word against the seller's. If the buyer returns the item damaged, or even switched for another one, don't count on eBay taking your word for this either.

EBay has become a VERY risky place to sell things. EBay itself recently advised sellers to add something to their prices to cover losses from fraudulent returns.
