topic Evri lost item 'prohibited list' in Community Platform Discussion

Could do with some advice on this one if possible! Sold an item on 20th Apr and despatched on 22nd April. However, I opted not to use the 'Simple Delivery' option as E-Bay's delivery partner was Evri. Their reputation goes before them and I have personally had lost/late delivery issues with them before. Therefore I opted to take the item (a rolled wall poster contained within a cardboard tube) to my local Post Office and send via Royal Mail. I paid for the cheapest service but looking at the receipt when I got home was surprised that I had, ironically, paid for an Evri service! I comforted myself with the law of averages theory that this one should go OK. As if! Needless to say Evri have lost the item!

I contacted the buyer and he can make an E-bay refund request with, as I understand it, the money coming directly from me. That's fine. The kicker is that when I contacted Evri to inform them that I'd like to make a claim from them for the value of the lost item (£25 approx) they replied to inform me that I wasn't eligible for compensation due to the item being included on their 'prohibited list'! A paper item on their prohibited list, seriously?!?! If it was a cordless drill or a set of steak knives etc then fair enough but a paper item? Their attitude and dismissive tone during my contact with them was abysmal.

So, due to Evri's incompetence I'm now left to lose out financially. They have offered to reimburse me for the postage cost (£3.49) but that's about as generous as they got. Anyone know where I stand with this one, what options I have? I now know I could have claimed my money back if I had purchased the 'Simple Delivery' labels direct from E-Bay but wasn't aware of that at the time. E-Bay really do need to stop using Evri as a delivery partner, they really are dreadful!

Any suggestions welcome! Cheers.
