Checking a sellers account is legitimate

Hi Want to purchase a large item, so please confirm the best way to check the sellers account and items are legitamate. Seller has aksed for bank transfer or cash and Item is far away so am unable to view. Accound has many positive reviews so just looking for advice as if pay outside EBay and it is not legit or delivered I am not protected

Bank transfer and cash is certainly the best payment method especially for the seller.

However, it is not advisable at all, to proceed with any purchase of a vehicle before seeing it first.

If it's too far to view, may I politely ask how you were going to collect it?

There is no protection for buyers when buying vehicles, so one has to go, thoroughly inspect the vehicle, and all paperwork, before parting with hard earned cash.

There is no protection on motors with eBay.

There are also a lot of scams. EBay does not - for example - have an escrow service where they hold the money till you are happy! It is pretty unlikely that the seller would deliver when you have paid the money.

The best way is to go to see the vehicle with cash and a largish friend for security. If all is OK [no HP clear MoT and V5] then you need either trade plates or to insure it and tax it immediately for the home journey
