Another Evri Story

Sorry in advance this is another Evri story. I am hoping by keeping Evri issues highlighted that we may as buyers eventually get to choose for ourselves who we want to deliver our purchases.

I will keep this short:

28th April won just over a meter of fabric on an auction for £23 - nearly £28 with postage (£5.50 I think?). The fabric retails at £189 p.m so naturally I was delighted.

Evri were delivering however. I also purchased another 3 items from the same seller but they were sent RM and all arrived quickly without issue.

The fabric made it to my local depot somewhere near Exeter but then never left for delivery. After a week of chasing Evri decided it was 'lost' despite 'searching their warehouse', confirmed 10th May. This seems to be a standard chain of events. I was directed back to Ebay for a refund.

I had already opened a INR case had to wait until 13th May to let Evri 'deliver as it was still on its way' despite Evri confirming to the contary. I was then sent another e-mail today saying we are giving Evri until the 18th to deliver. After calling CS it was eventually resolved and the refund processed.

I am really put off buying from Ebay until we as buyers can choose the courier of our choice. I am happy with RM, DPD and others but not Evri. I can see people have had different experiences with Evri but my experiences are that 80% of the time there will be an issue. Parcel late, delivered to another address, damaged, split open etc I have even had deliveries for others to my home that I have to then reunite with rightful owners.

I have never ever had an item not arrive before however (one seller never posted the item in the first place but that's different). It will be the last ever time I use Evri.

I work hard to afford the items I buy and don't want the endless hassle and disappointment that Evri bring.

I really want Ebay to clearly list the delivery options which sellers can choose and then I can decide if I am happy upfront with the courier being offered. If not to contact the seller if they would make an exception and send via preferred courier.

I don't want to have to ask every seller what courier they are using, its too much time and effort for every single purchase. List the options upfront.

How can I get Ebay to listen? I don't think I am on my own.

Before anyone says anything I have worked as a courier and know it can be challenging. Evri by all accounts pay badly and have poor working conditions for staff - so again why are Ebay supporting them? In my instance the parcel went missing at the depot anyway!

I am glad that some people have positive experiences using them but I would like to be able to choose please!

I want transparency. What do you think?

Probably because Evri's awful reputation made them the cheapest for ebay to get into bed with.

All big businesses use the bottom line as the deciding factor in any decison making. Stuff like customer satisfaction etc. tend to come a poor second.

By the way, I've just got to ask..... What sort of fabric is it?? sounds like it ought to be cloth-of-gold.....👑

Its such a shame with Ebay I just wish I could make a choice easily.

The fabric should be made of gold I agree - its all the embroidery on it that makes it so expensive. It was a real bargain at £23....

I will get over it but as a self confessed fabric addict it hurt. I just hope its not being used to wipe over someone's windowscreen.....

I love Evri. Timed delivery to a couple of hours, friendly drivers, unlike Royal Mail who finally delivered the parcel I'd literally sat in for ALL day yesterday at 20.12pm. Evri had been out at 10.30am with their parcel. Of course maybe Royal Mail is better in other areas but I prefer Evri personally. I get really tired of these ranting threads against Evri.

Like I said some people have a good experience with them - what I'm asking for is to be given a choice of courier upfront.

Obviously you would choose Evri - and I would choose RM.

If I had received the item I paid for then I would not be on here with the story.....

It's not in eBay's (or Evri's) interest to notify buyers as clearly as possible in advance who the courier would be. Let's not forget Evri's always had a bad rep: they changed their name from Hermes to try and hide it.

from 'Yes, Prime Minister' - read courier instead of GPs/doctors:

"Much tidier to allocate people to GPs, much fairer. Then everyone has an equal chance of getting the bad doctors."

I hope it lasts for you.

It seems to be a postcode lottery. Where I used to live was awful for couriers and Royal Mail, as if they had a competition on.

My area (now) used to have early Royal Mail deliveries and late afternoon & early evening courier deliveries, but then one year they swapped times of day. That's on days when RM delivers at all. It was great for years, as it enabled me to receive (by RM) and watch three Lovefilm DVDs and get them into the evening post and thus fully optimise my subscription as they'd send one DVD per one you returned.

Oddly enough, my Evri drivers are great when delivering non-eBay parcels. I've had several ppoor (substandard) deliveries and those were all eBay parcels - as if Evri has a terrible employee they always use.

You get used to certain couriers delivering at certain times, but then it's 'all change'. It seems courier delivery configurations keep changing. But the personnel tends to stay the same. e.g. Jim the Thug has done rounds since forever but seems to be working his way through the various courier employers. (Jim the Thug is a lovely man.)

Same is happening to me right now. I brought my daughter a swimming costume brand new, the 1 she wanted. Was dropped at locker 8th May and the 15th nothing so I called eBay whi wasn't much help told me to open a case on the 17th which I did. In the meantime been onto evri who have been emailing me and have told me twice anything over 5 days it's lost in the network and they have no idea where the parcel is. I went back to seller and eBay and still no result-iv had to wait until today as eBay were giving evri more time to deliver and now eBay are allowing evri til 27th May to deliver even though iv told them evri said its lost TWICE!!! it's like pulling teeth to try and get this resolved, iv never known anything like it, iv had many things in the past not arrive and been refunded by seller or ebay but this time its like pulling out my own teeth, I'm so annoyed right now! Sorry to moan to you but this is hideous I mean come on how long they going to wait before I get refunded!!!!!

If items are sent using Simple Delivery then ebay is responsible for the refund if it's lost. As they control the process they are able to give the courier longer to deliver and so avoid refunding for deliveries that just arrive late.

They will also rely solely on tracking, not on any messages from the courier.

OK thank you for the reply, so can I ask is all this normal procedure as this has never happened to me before? As to be honest I feel as though eBay are not really being fair to me but if its normal procedure then I'll just wait for the process to run.
