Thanks for the advice. I didn’t get the first item at all even though it stated delivered. I did get the refund from eBay. I just have the feeling it’s going to happen again.

Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPad

I bought the Tiffany ring yesterday, supposedly validated authentication before sending my way but shockingly received notification from Royal Mail saying the delivery is due 5pm today. (Exactly same wording from my last undelivered item). Am I the unluckiest customer ever!

Hopefully , you put in a claim for item not received for your other item, did you?

Some AI generated messages are nonsense, and certainly some don't paint a full picture.

Just await the receipt of your item, once it arrives, I would suggest getting it authenticated again by a Tiffany registered dealer, if you feel it didn't have time to go through eBay's authentication process, then familiarise yourself with eBay's 30 day MBG, Money Back Guarantee, it's written on every listing, and I've included a link below for this, in case you need to make any claim for a refund.

https://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebay-money-back-guarantee/

As a result the buyer has a fake item and no chance of obtaining a refund.

If, on the other hand, you receive something other than what you ordered then open a case with the reason 'Item does not match description' - DO NOT open an Item Not Received case as something has been delivered and eBay accepts proof of delivery to deny such claims. Return whatever was sent to you and eBay will issue a refund once the item is recorded as delivered (or delivery has been attempted).

Finally, if you do receive a ring have it independently authenticated with Tiffany within 30 days of receipt; if it fails authentication open a Not As Described case, return the ring and eBay will make a refund as described above.

If you do open a case do not correspond with the seller in any way other than through the case and do not accede to any requests to close the case before a refund is made otherwise you will lose and chance of a refund.

Keep us posted on what happens and if you need any more advice just come ask.

Double check the Royal Mail tracking that its actually going to you, likelihood is that its going to authentication but the seller purchased a label from eBay and they (eBay) just send you the delivery details thinking its being sent to you but its actually going to authentication. This used to happen with sneakers before they introduced the DPD delivery aspect, I had to send every buyer a message saying your item has been shipped please ignore any notification you get from eBay and Royal Mail we are sending it to authentication.

Its basically the eBay system working the same for every order when really authentication orders run differently.

Latest update. So, the Tiffany ring did not pass for the authentication. The seller listed with the stamp Tiffany but the authenticator couldn’t found any. So I chose to cancel the transaction.
So I am grateful the authenticity is doing the great job of spotting the lack of stamp or I would have paid for the “incorrect “ ring.( even though the ring is authentic but I am also pay more for the stamp). Thank you eBay for refunding my purchase promptly too.

Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPad

Thanks for the update @ytleo-65 - it's good to know that the ring failed Authentication and you didn't lose your money.

I'm not too sure what you mean by "even though the ring is authentic" though - either it is or it isn't. I have read of non-genuine items being passed by Authentication so I suppose it's possible that genuine items could be rejected, but neither of those scenarios exactly inspire confidence in the competence of the service.

If you do decide to risk purchasing a similar item in future then I would strongly recommend that you have it independently authenticated on receipt, for peace of mind if nothing else.

No authentication service is 100%, the stories you hear about fakes getting through may well be true but there will be a lot of those stories that have parts added or taken away from the story. The amount of people who claim to buy genuine trainers from the big 3 (eBay, stockX, GOAT) then try and resell and found they are fake is high but its rarely the big collectors who have this issue, almost like people swap and then use the receipt to try and blag a fake pair is genuine.

I don't know about jewellery but for trainers, if I didnt get them retail my first stop would be eBay as they are the strictest of the big 3, sadly they are reducing the service which will see an increase in scams.
