topic Re: NOS - 'new old stock' - not really??!! in Buying

And therein lies the problem...

NOS is (or at least is supposed to be) just that: New Old Stock. 'Stock' implies the item is being sold by a Business. Private sellers should not be holding 'Stock'. A Private seller could well sell an item which is still sealed in its packaging it is still a pre-owned item and cannot therefore be classed as a NOS item.

The fact is that eBay allows Private sellers to list items using the term NOS when that term should only be available for Business sellers to use. But, as with so many other areas of eBay, it is obvious that they are simply not bothered about the integrity of the site otherwise action would be taken, in the same way that there are accounts which are incorrectly registered as Private selling, for example, Brand New make-up and perfume which should be registered as Businesses.

Such accounts are denying customers their legal rights, they are avoiding eBay fees and, quite possibly, avoiding paying tax, but they get away with it because eBay doesn't do anything about them.

Wouldn't you agree, @style_wise ?...
