To me,the simplist solution would have been to cancel 1 item and add it to the other listing.

Then price it at 27 inc P+P as a buy it now.

I had listed two items brand new from Ted Baker women’s one still with tags (skirt). Skirt been on a while so I reduced it to 7.99. Trousers 22 pounds. Bargain and I am having a clear out. Had a message would I sell both for 27 and combine postage. Ok as I said want them gone. So I reduced trousers to 20 skirt to 7 and removed shipping from the skirt. She bought the skirt so I’m only getting 4 pounds now for it! I asked are you still buying the trousers. The answer is they are 21.50 not 20. I explained this is the eBay buyer protection fee. No answer

I have said if this is not to her liking I can cancel the skirt order. No answer. I just feel I’ve been ripped off! Good way of getting an item reduced 😡

No, not a scam.

Think about it, if you offered £20 for something and the seller then sold it for £22, would you be happy about it? I'm quite sure that your customer is feeling ripped off as well.
You should have allowed for the BPF when quoting.

From the buyer's perspective you reduced the trousers to 21.50.

@feargal25 Hi, I have tried to do this a couple of times and decided it is too messy and fiddly to bother. In future tell the would be buyer to watch the items and you can make them an offer, they can counter offer if you allow it. You will see the amount you will get and they will see the amount they will pay, which does not happen when discussing offers through messaging. If they ask for combined postage, I think, if using simple delivery, if they order both at the same time eBay automatically combine into one postage.

You can cancel the order still, but it counts against you unless you use "buyer wants to cancel" so don't do it too often.
