Postage funds

Hi All

Any help appreciated as i cant speak to anyone on the phone about this.

i sold 3 books to the same buyer (3 seperate listings). They asked for combined postage, i said thats fine. They made offers which i accepted and they went ahead and paid. It charged them 3 times for postage. I have refunded 2 of the postages, HOWEVER from what i can see, they paid ebay the postage not me.

So, postage was taken out of my funds yet they paid postage to ebay.

Do ebay not refund the postage now that i have refunded the buyer? This means they got the items a lot cheaper and i make less money.

If you used simple delivery and didn't use 2 of the labels the buyer will be refunded for them within 30 days.

If you send all together you will only have proof of delivery for 1 item so the buyer could,in effect claim non receipt for 2 items.

thanks for the reply and i didnt think of that, ive left myself open by trying to be helpful. It seems like the easiest thing to do at this stage is cancel the whole order, but then they may or may not give the postage i have refunded them back?

As i have refunded them for the postage. If i cancel the entire order now, will all the money paid get to them and me?

Yes, if you cancel the orders then the buyer will be refunded in full, including the amounts paid for postage and the Buyer Protection Fee, less the amount that you have already refunded.

You can then relist the books on one listing for them to buy again if they are still interested.

Have you sent the books? If not, if you cancel the orders, they will get their money back and you will still have the books. You may still need to pay some fees e.g. if you used a reserve I think.

If you've sent the books, then you can discuss with the buyer. If you cancel the orders, it's possible you never hear from them again (and ebay will not take any action, as you've done the cancellation). Or maybe the buyer will buy the same books again - (I suggest) best done in one item.

The buyer agreed to the cancellation. I created a new link as suggested and they have now repurchased as the bundle so its ok now.

Glad the buyer agreed to repurchase - and hopefully the refunding has been straightforward for you both.

If the buyer paid for all three items at the same time, the postage should have automatically combined - but perhaps it was because they were sold via 'best offers', that the postage could not be combined?

Unfortunately, the way Simple Delivery works, means it is no longer possible to just refund some postage to the buyer after they have purchased multiple items - but not all buyers are aware of this, and expect the seller to be able to adjust the postage afterwards, without any trouble!

Out of interest, I wondered why some of your similar size/weight items have an Evri postage price of £2.94, and some have the Royal Mail postage price of £3.38?
