I sent an item simple delivery,I got a QR code from eBay ,says delivered by royal mail

Buyers said it went to wrong address but Royal mail say went to correct postcode

Buyer opens a claim

eBay takes the money from me to pay the scammer back I've appealed of course I just can't see anyway they could not see it saying delivered,There is NO seller protection that I can see

So definitely going back to my Drop and Go account with post office and any valuable stuff if people want it will pay special delivery ,to say I'm annoyed is an understatement

Will post outcome of appeal

Do tell, why exactly is the buyer a scammer if they claim it went to the wrong address?

This kind of thing does happen and does not automatically mean that someone is trying it on.

Just because it's the correct postcode, does not mean that it is the correct address as postcodes cover an area and not a specific address.

Have you actually checked the GPS co-ords on the Royal Mail tracking?

With a Simple Delivery label eBay take responsibility for any loss or damage, so if your buyer opened an item not received claim then eBay will have dealt with it, it should not have ended up with you refunding the buyer.

What's the exact reason that eBay gave for not finding your appeal in your favour?

How it is supposed to work and actually works are to different things with eBay.

My buyer told me ha gave wrong address after I had purchased simple delivery label.
I canceled the sale and put reason as wrong address given by buyer.

Buyer corrected his address, I relisted item and he purchased item again and it got to him …happy buyer.

I filled a form in on the 31st of March for a refund on the unused postage label (£3.42).

Nothing not a word ….via chat I asked where my refund was?

oh sorry …we will force through a manual refund.

7 days later and nothing.

It’s only £3.42, but proves to me that what eBay state and what happens are two different things.

Hopefully they are taken over for £55 billion and given a shake up by new owners to restore confidence in its users.

You can see why eBay are shedding users at the moment.

I have lost trust in them , but continue to sell but with some caution.

I have gold coins to sell and have sold on eBay prior, but I think that was luck more than eBay processes protecting me. I certainly would not sell items of value on eBay again and will sell elsewhere aka bullion dealers even for less but less risk.

The payment for the original cancelled postage label will have gone back to the buyer though, not you.

The buyer will have paid for the label at checkout.

I did check recent sales and could only see a postage price showing on the listings.

May well be further back though, I agree.

Edit to add, @jonatjonatjonat you could well be right there, there are two duplicate sales back in March.

I paid for the postage. It was free postage seller pays (me) as eBay promote to enhance the buying experience for buyers on platform.
If it has gone back to the buyer who never paid for the postage, it highlights another broken eBay process that dents trust in this platform even more.

In this case it was free postage.

I changed to buyer pays, so that an unused label isn’t my issue in the future but the buyers.

Obviously if the buyer gets the same service I have that will be another person walking away from using this platform to buy.

His postcode eBay sends a code I don't know his address so how can I be at fault ,but I've lost £48 eBay NEVER even contacted me to hear what I had to say just took his word for it even though clearly says tracking to his house his address his postcode,and they refunded him ,

I've tried to revise my listing and change to my choice of postage but no deal so took down 10 items so far that are price above £100 I'm not loosing more to scammers.

And if I can't change postage for new listings I just won't list ,,,

Plenty of selling sites .

I just appealed today will hear in next 2 days if I'm successful.

That's what I am raging about we have NO control over postage,I uploaded pics of the Tracking Code eBay supplied saying delivered then 10 minutes later the buyer gets in touch with me saying it's went to another postcode in his area ,how would he know where it was delivered too,

I then checked and everything was tracked to his house his full address and postcode

I really can't figure out how I'm at fault can anyone see my point

You need to explain exactly what has happened.

What kind of case did the buyer open?

Have you taken the tracking number and gone to the Royal Mail website and checked the GPS coords?

The buyers address will be available to you on the label you where provided with.

Again though, this is not necessarily a scam. It is quite possible that the item was delivered incorrectly.
This does happen, so you should not automatically assume that it's a scam.

It might not be a scam but it also seems unlikely that the poster actually used simple delivery. Tracking would have been automatically added if they had and ebay would (should) have handled the whole thing.

I don't think they did from what has been said, so simple delivery shouldn't apply.
But whether it did or didn't, if the OP used RM tracked, which appears to be the case, then it will give GPS co-ords. It just needs to be checked. And obviously if they didn't use SD, then they should know where they posted it to!

All I'm really trying to point out though, is that people should not automatically jump to it being a scam!

99% of the time it isn't.

Hi please let us all know how you get on with your appeal because the same issue could affect anyone who sells on the platform. Recently I had issues with an item I received damaged in the post. Luckily issue was resolved today after almost 2 weeks. Thought simple delivery protects buyers and sellers but perhaps I an wrong.

If postage goes wrong with simple delivery eBay are responsible and both seller and buyer do not lose money , they they then have to take on delivery for recompense or stand the loss , they introduced the system and rules , tried it on when Evri supplied photo of delivery, buyer said it wasn't there and received refund and tried to penalise me , no way I have evidence of delivery penalty claim to me dropped . looks to me that eBay's idea of discounted delivery are proving a hard lesson and need to adopt a proper signed for delivery most sellers paid for and accounted for in price for anything of value

Who knows. I wonder is the item was one of the brand new Pokemon sets they've sold. e.g. the one (about £48) to the buyer with a feedback score of 6. If so, it certainly doesn't mean that buyer is a scammer, but probably more than 1% chance they are...

Which is a VERY negative way of viewing the world.

The point being, you don't automatically assume that is the case FIRST.

2% is more than 1% and doesn't assume the buyer is a scammer.

Maybe it's not that item anyway but a banknote sold to someone with 1000+ feedback.
