Is anyone else having far more returns than usual this year?

Last year, I had three over the entire 12 months. I have recently received my sixth of this calendar year.

Only one of these six could be remotely justified; three were simple change of mind, with a reason fabricated to make me pay the postage, and two have undoubtedly been "switches" where the item I received back was demonstrably not the item I sent.

I know I can deduct up to 50% of the refund amount, and I have done this on occasion in the past. Beyond that, I do report the culprits, but that doesn't help at the time. I also realise we seem to be in a never-ending "cost of living crisis", but this sort of behaviour has never been a problem in the past, even during even worse economic times.

Are any of you experiencing similar, or am I just being unlucky? (Obviously all these "buyers" are now on my BBL)

Getting regular change of mind, with wrong excuses for free postage.
It does seem to be the default now.

But rarely do I ever see items being changed etc.

It has however increased over the last couple of years, but a lot of people are struggling and I do think that is at the route of it.

You’re not alone, a few sellers have mentioned an increase in returns recently. Change of mind cases being labelled differently and the occasional switch do seem to be cropping up more.

It’s hard to say if it’s wider behaviour or just a run of bad luck, but it does happen in waves for some sellers.

Using the deduction option where appropriate and reporting the buyers is about all you can do within the system.

Some sellers also tighten up their listings with clearer photos and descriptions, but it won’t stop deliberate misuse. Hopefully it settles down for you.

They have all been for vinyl records. I have been doing this for over twenty years, and I am totally confident in my grading ability. Obviously, errors can occur, e.g. leaving details from a previous item in the template, but, as I say, only one of these six could, at a stretch, be deemed justified. Just check my feedback.
