Rotherham is quite a small place, you may do better looking for someone in Sheffield or `Donny`. Keeping accounts is not as scary as it seems, the Tax forms are relatively easy to fill out online, and HMRC are very helpful when you EVENTUALLY get through to them. If you don`t want to pay the £400 or so that an accountant will charge for a simple years accounts, then you might look at the excellent `Simplex` account books, or try a free online service, or look at `Quickbooks`, which a lot of small companies use, though personally I don`t like that it has quite a steep learning curve.
