A friend had a similar experience many years ago. When I wanted to sell my car, and not use a dealer, my mechanic (turned friend), who ran a repair shop and did MOTs, gave my car the equivalent of an MOT+ before I offered it for sale. The cost of those checks were well worth it, and I increased my asking price to cover thm: he listed the checks he'd done on his garage's notepaper, signed and dated it, and that kept my negotiating with would-be buyers to the price only, indeed no one really seemed to have the heart even to try and negotiate even the price. That included someone who in the initial phone call asked if he could have his mechanic take a look; I actually agreed to that but told him I'd got the checks already done and when he turned up he was sans mechanic. I got the full asking price no problem. Everyone wanted to buy including a woman who wanted to buy it without an inspection saying she'd rely on my garage's checks; I strongly recommended she do a test-drive as well so she did then bought immediately.

(This can also work on selling a house. Tip: include "no more negotiating on price" in the initial terms as buyers always try to knock down the price during the transaction usually without real justification, especially just before exchange is due so as to pressure you. Buyers were pleased that I'd done more than the pre-sale checks required by regulations. As with the car, I sold quickly and for the full asking price, and of course I'd included the professionals' charges in the asking price.)
