If you wanted to give it a try, you could do as auction and with a Buy It Now price.

Yesterday I bought an item like that (chose the BIN) as mainly I didn't want to risk being outbid so I didn't worry at all about paying approx £8 extra. (My max bid, to try and secure it via auction, would've been at least £8 above the start bid price anyway.) Indeed, while browsing the auctions today, I've decided I really like having BIN as an option and hope more sellers will do it, though I don't know if it costs them more in fees to do so.
